The new Labour Party hub needed to not only highlight and celebrate the work of the party, but also provide it’s members with resources, guidance, and campaiging tools. The public facing site needed to be inviting and engaging, while the members area needed to be content rich without being overbearing.
NAVIGATING THE UN-NAVIGABLE
The Labour Party’s existing site was already leaps and bounds ahead of their competitors in terms of visual layout, however, it had many issues when it came to navigation and experience. Their main goal was to streamline information for new party members, and shed light on previously difficult to access content for existing members.
With over 11,000 articles with a bloated taxonomy, our (along with strategy partner C6) biggest challenge was building an information architecture that houses everything elegantly.
Our key touchpoint for the visual refresh was the historically radical nature of the Labour Party, it was our goal to represent this visually on the site. Ultimately, we paired back the visual language to favor function over form.
